IHSC Bus Seating Policy

Due to a large number of problems with seating on the bus trips, the IHSC has adopted a seating policy.

  1. The Trip Leader will assign each trip participant a seat on the bus for the full duration of the trip.
  2. The bus will be divided into the following types of seating areas:
Quiet area/Sleeping area front of the bus
Games area middle of the bus
Party area rear of the bus
  3. When signing up for a trip, trip participants will be asked to specify their seating area preference. They will also be asked who they would like to sit next to. If two people both request each other, they will be considered Seating Partners during the trip. They should specify the area where they intend to spend most of their time. Seating requests can be as specific as the trip participant wants it to be but the Trip Leader has the final responsibility for seating arrangements.
  4. Trip leaders will assign seats as follows:
  5. The Trip Leader will announce the bus seating assignments prior to the date of departure, in a manner similar to room assignments. The Trip Leader will be responsive to any special problems which may arise.
  6. The Trip Leader will post the bus seating assignments near the bus door and will have it available throughout the trip for reference.
  7. At the beginning of the trip, the Trip Leader will announce the purpose of the seating areas and their boundaries. He or she will ask for the cooperation of all in observing these areas.
  8. During the trip, participants can switch seats with other willing parties. This activity should be reported to the Trip Leader.
